Develops, directs and coordinates the quality control program for staff involved in the collection and analyzing of construction material samples. They review laboratory practices and procedures to ensure that compliance with quality assurance and safety standards are met.

  • Establish, develop, compile and monitor the laboratory quality assurance program and data
  • Evaluates safety practices and procedures with respect to laboratory and field analytical work
  • Prepares reports for management and agencies when required
  • Maintains material safety data sheet records on chemicals and compounds used
Working Conditions
  • Compliance officers work with many different people and in a variety of environments
  • Many Officers work long and often irregular hours
  • Take an adversarial role when an organization or individual objects to inspections
Essential Skills
  • Read and understand work-related materials  
  • Skills such as problem solving, research, teamwork, presentation, training and communication
  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire project while continuing to attend to details
  • Understanding of the code, specifications and regulations related to the construction industry
  • Completion of high school
  • Some jobs require a Civil Engineering Diploma
  • Construction Quality Control courses offered in the industry
